長年連れ添った妻と別れた人気ミュージシャンの一樹。彼は息子の虹輝が自分と暮らすことを選んだことに感謝する一方、虹輝が高校受験に失敗したことに責任を感じていた。1年後、浪人して高校に進学した虹輝に、一樹が昼食は弁当と昼食代を渡すのとどちらがいいか尋ねると、虹輝は弁当がいいと答える。こうして、一樹は欠かさず弁当を作る、虹輝は休まず学校に通うという“親父と息子の男の約束”が交わされるのだった。
