Taking place between the years 1837 and 1843, Balzac’s classic novel focuses on the young poet Lucien de Rubempré, who leaves Angouleme for Paris in the pursuit of becoming an author.

The American cult writer, Philip K. Dick was responsible for some of the most iconic novels of the twentieth century. This documentary looks behind the famous author and examines his unique vision of the future with the assistance of philosophers, scientists, biographers, writers, friends and family. We draw upon Philip K. Dick’s work as well as various cinematographic adaptations of his novels (Blade Runner, Minority Report, Total Recall, and more) in order to illustrate the extent to which K. Dick’s oeuvre foretold the world that has become our own today. The film will take the viewer on a fascinating journey to discover this extraordinary writer and to observe our contemporary society with a critical eye by delving into three of K. Dick’s main obsessions: the human being and his double, a controlled society and what is reality?

Rebecca (Anny Duperey), a lawyer, realizes that the young man (Julien Crampon) whom she has exonerated after a brilliant defense could in fact be the culprit of the murder he is accused of, and that he may be planning another crime. Rebecca's personal inquiry leads her all the way to Belgium, where she crosses her ethical 'red line' when she meets Malice (Emilie de Preissac), a young police officer. An impulsive hot head, Malice leads her on a wild ride through Brussels.

Investigating judge at the 3rd Criminal Chamber of Marseille, Françoise Larchey is the wife of Jean-Pierre Larchey, a famous architect of the Coast. The couple has a son, Valentin, seventeen years old... The death of Edith Mesniel, a local political figure, puts the town in turmoil. But when Emilie, Edith's only daughter and Valentin's girlfriend, confides to Françoise that her mother's death was not accidental, Madame le Juge decides to look into the case. By attacking this case, Françoise disturbs many people. She receives death threats, her son and Emilie are also threatened but she refuses to give up. And she discovers little by little that the mafia infiltrated in all the country.

The new Saint Denis-Bobigny streetcar picks up and drops off commuters in an all-too-brief transit of their lives. Among the regular riders is a woman who is both spectator and guide – she introduces, comments on, ponders and catalyzes the sometimes vain, sometimes serious preoccupations of her fellow travelers, who, for the moment, are rushing headlong toward their destiny. The commuters and their observer have double lives. Once they step off this streetcar, the real-life dramas begin. Each has his or her style of living or dying…

Raymonde Chandebise suspects her husband Victor-Emmanuel of cheating on her. Her best friend advises her to find out for sure and to use a stratagem. Both of them send him a false letter, written by a beautiful stranger, giving him an appointment at the "Minet Galant"! But they are completely unaware that the hotel's waiter, a simpleton, is a look-alike of poor Victor-Emmanuel!
