イラクで恋人を失ったジャーナリストのトマス・アンダース（ルパート・フレンド）は、戦場への取材に再び赴くを決め、民族紛争に揺れるグルジアへと向かう。2008年8月8日未明、ロシアの軍事介入によって戦争が始まり、彼はロシア軍の非武装地帯への空爆を告発しようとする。しかし、世間は北京で開催中のオリンピックに目が向いており、この事態を報道しようとするメディアはなかった。
