十二歳の天才少女美空ひばり登場！爆弾娘が主人公の音楽メロドラマ。 自分の作曲した『悲しき口笛』という歌を手かがりに、外地から復員してきた兄が、行方不明の妹を探し回り巡り会うまでを描いた作品。戦後の荒んだ社会の中を健気に生きる可憐な少女の役柄で、天才少女歌手・美空ひばりが本格主演、ひばりが歌った同名主題歌も大ヒットし、全国にひばりブームを巻き起こした。監督の家城巳代治は、本作発表後、まもなくレッドパージにより退社、活躍の場を独立プロに移している。

I guess that this story is one of the origins of girl's manga in the 1950s in which I belonged to the first generation of Japanese story manga.
