1909年、一夜のバレエ公演がパリを熱狂の渦に巻き込んだ。それこそが、天才興行師セルジュ・ディアギレフのバレエ団、バレエ・リュス（ロシア・バレエ団）である。20世紀初頭のパリに花開き、伝説のダンサー、ニジンスキーを生んだバレエ・リュスは、29年のディアギレフ没後、解散。しかし、残されたダンサーたちは踊り続け、その遺産を継承していた。その半世紀にもわたる＜旅＞こそが、バレエ史の“ミッシング・リンク”と呼ばれている。
