The Taking of Christina is based on a true story. A short time before her wedding day, a young woman is kidnapped and taken by her captors. As the days pass, she convinces them that she really cares for them.

The daughter of a poverty-stricken New England clamdigger falls in love with the son of her father's rival. His family, in turn, wants him to marry the daughter of a wealthy and prominent family. Complications ensue.

Mrs. Barrington (the character) can't seem to keep her rich husbands alive. They always die off, with her help, leaving her with loads of money. After all, a girl's got to make a living.
