怪鳥ギャオスが世界各地に出現し、人類に深刻な被害をもたらす。そんな中、東京・渋谷にギャオスが飛来し、それを追ってガメラも現われ、両者の戦いで渋谷の街は壊滅する。一方、かつてのガメラとギャオスの闘いで両親を失い、現在も激しくガメラを憎む少女・綾奈は、奈良の禁域の森のほこらで、奇妙な卵を発見。やがて卵からは不思議な生物が誕生し、綾奈はそれを“イリス”と名付けてひそかに育てるが、イリスは急速に成長する。

A young rock singer is not appreciated by her band, and gets a postcard from Japan saying "wish you were here". She takes what little money she has including ex-boyfriend's rent money and goes to Tokyo. She has numerous cross-cultural adventures and ends up singing with a Japanese rock group looking for a gaijin gimmick.

昭和22年、いまだ戦争の傷痕が至るところに残り、一面焼け野原が広がる東京。新橋駅界隈では、通称“関東小政”こと浅田せんや、“ボルネオマヤ”こと菅マヤら、家や家族を失って売春婦となった女性たちが徒党を組み、“らくちょうのお澄”率いるライバルグループや、闇市を仕切るヤクザの袴田一家と、縄張り争いを繰り広げていた。そんなある日、せんたちのもとに、元陸軍上等兵の伊吹新太郎がMPに追われて逃げ込んでくる。
