今宵も三番筋に、晴らせぬ恨みを抱えた一人の町人がやってくる。男はヤクザ者に娘を殺されたかたきを討ってほしいと訴えると、金子を祠に備えた。お菊（和久井映見）の差配で、渡辺小五郎（東山紀之）、経師屋の涼次（松岡昌宏）、瓦屋の陣八郎（遠藤憲一）たちは、次々と的を手にかけていく。ところが、リュウ（知念侑季）がいざ「仕事」を果たそうとしたとき、その場に頼み人本人が体中に武器を帯びて現れ、自らヤクザ者を刺し殺し、こう言い放つ。まさかの事態に言葉を失うリュウだが、「頼み人に顔を見られたら、その命を絶つ」という仕事人の鉄則に従い、小五郎が男を斬り捨てた。「仕事」の世界の冷酷さに嫌気がさしたリュウは、小五郎に反抗的な目を向けると、その場を立ち去った。その夜以来、リュウは姿を消してしまう……。同じ夜、江戸の町では驚くべき事件が起こっていた。若い男が焙烙玉を担いで遊郭で自爆し、大勢の人間を巻き添えにしたのだ。事件の捜査を始めた小五郎は、新たな相棒の同心・住之江彦左衛門（松尾諭）から気になる情報を知らされる。自爆犯は死の直前に「我らの怒りを恐れよ」という謎めいた言葉を残したというのだ。一方、涼次によれば、自爆に用いられた焙烙玉は、素人が簡単に手に入れられるものではないらしい。涼次の見立てどおり、焙烙玉は組織的に作られていた。とある屋敷で、雀蓮（間宮祥太朗）という青年の監視の下、焙烙玉作りに精を出す少年少女たち。それを前に、「まだまだ足りない」と言う謎の男・壬生の幻楼（奥田瑛二）。彼こそが、恨みを持つ者たちに武器を提供し、江戸の町に自爆事件を仕掛けた張本人であった。

長引く不況に対し、幕府では、若き勘定吟味役・風間右京乃助（小澤征悦）が敏腕をふるっていた。筆頭老中・沢木丹波守輔忠（津川雅彦）を後ろ盾に、江戸城の改築や橋の付け替えなどの取り止めを次々と決定し、幕府の財政を立て直そうというのだ。だが、この“事業仕分け”に、普請奉行の酒巻勘解由（本田博太郎）は反感を隠せない。贅沢三昧の暮らしを送る大奥のお年寄り・霧島（かたせ梨乃）にいたっては、小判を作って財政を立て直せなどという無茶な注文を言い出す始末だ。一方、町では、庶民たちが仕事を求めて口入屋に殺到する事態が起こっていた。仕事にありつけない人々は、自分たちの働き口を奪ったとして、右京乃助に恨みを募らせる。経師屋の涼次（松岡昌宏）も、右京乃助のせいで家族を失ったという少女から“仕事”を依頼された。ひそかに右京乃助の身辺を洗い始めた涼次は、異様な殺気を放つ坊主・童山（内藤剛志）に出会う。童山は右京乃助と関わりがあるようだが……。同じ頃、武士が殺されるという事件が相次いでいた。死体を見るかぎり、犯人はかなりの腕利きのようだ。南町奉行所見廻り同心・渡辺小五郎（東山紀之）は、しぶしぶ捜査に乗り出す。ところが、そんな小五郎に、こう（野際陽子）から驚きの知らせが。妻のふく（中越典子）が妊娠したというのだ！　仕事人という裏の顔を持つ自分が親になるという事実に小五郎は？そんな中、“仕事”を何者かに目撃されてしまい、対処に困った仕立て屋の匳（田中聖）は、中村主水（藤田まこと）に相談すべく、中村家を訪れる。そこには、偶然居合わせた小五郎と花御殿のお菊（和久井映見）の姿があったが、主水の姿は……。

南町奉行所見廻り同心・渡辺小五郎（東山紀之）、絵師でもある経師屋の涼次（松岡昌宏）、役儀任免で南町奉行所自身番となった中村主水（藤田まこと）らは、表稼業をこなしながらも、仕事人として闇にまぎれて悪人たちを討つ日々を送っていた。ただ一人、からくり屋の源太（大倉忠義）だけは、仕事人として人を殺めたことを後悔して葛藤しながら、作太郎（前田航基）とともにめし処「その」を営んでいた。江戸の街では、なぜか薬の値が高騰する事態が起こる。主水が自身番を勤める長屋横丁でも、与平（前田吟）ら貧しい老人たちが薬の高騰にあえいでいた。そこに、薬を安売りする薬種問屋恵比寿屋が現れる。店の主・恵比寿屋善兵衛（竜雷太）は救世主としてあがめられるが、その裏で善兵衛は、舶来モノの安い薬が江戸に入るのを差し止めていたのだった。そんな中、素浪人・権藤伊左衛門（沢村一樹）が江戸にやってくる。彼は小五郎の剣術道場時代の同士で、自慢の剣の腕で世直しをして名を上げようともくろんでいた。のんきに奉行所勤めをしている小五郎の前で、悪人を闇から闇へと葬る仕事人をクズ呼ばわりする伊左衛門。その矢先、薬の高騰に耐えかねた与平たちは、お上に対して長屋に立てこもり、窮状を訴える決意をした。めし処「その」に集まった老人たちの話を小耳にはさんだ伊左衛門は、助太刀を申し出る。人助けと考えた玉櫛（水川あさみ）も加わった。だが、立てこもりを始めた与平や伊左衛門たちのところへ乗り込んできたのは、老人たちを一掃し、長屋の土地を手に入れようともくろむ土建屋の芳之助（田中要次）と、彼が雇った銀五郎（丹古母鬼馬二）ら辰野組のヤクザ者たちだった。

第二次世界大戦終了後、戦争末期に名古屋を空爆した米軍捕虜を処刑した責任を問われ、B級戦犯として裁判にかけられた岡田資中将。裁判で彼は「一般民衆への無差別爆撃の責任は誰が負うのか、命令により実行した部下の責任は誰が負うべきなのか」と堂々と信念を主張し、戦勝国アメリカによる法廷を戦い抜く。

南町奉行所に新たに見回り同心・渡辺小五郎（東山紀之）が着任、おかげで中村主水（藤田まこと）は弾き出されて書庫番を任じられた。そんな中、老舗の米問屋・上総屋から火が出て、主人夫婦が死に、その娘・佐知（星野真里）から敵討ちの依頼がくる。上総屋の火事は、商売敵の播磨屋によるものだというのだ。常磐津の師匠・花御前のお菊（和久井映見）は、金を払えば恨みを晴らしてくれる仕事人組織の存在を佐知に教える。お菊が声を掛けた仕事人は、小五郎と絵師の涼次（松岡昌宏）だった。互いの仕事をすませた直後ふたりは、偶然顔を合わせる。だが、ふたりはお互いの裏の顔は知らない。事件は敵討ちとして一件落着したが、小五郎はまだ裏があると感じていた。一方、からくり仕掛け人の源太（大倉忠義）は、小料理屋の女将・薫（原沙知絵）に惚れて、店に通いつめていた。ところが、ある事情から薫は土地売買商の加賀谷彦左衛門（石橋蓮司）、玄衛門（佐野史郎）親子のもとに討ち入り、逆に殺されてしまう。源太は、残された薫の息子・作太郎のためにも薫の敵を討とうと誓う。

Takahashi Meiko (Mano Azusa) used to work at a large newspaper company. However, she is now an ordinary housewife. She receives a call from Sasame (Kanda Masaki), a former colleague who is now working at another company asking her for her help. She is informed that a murder has taken place when she arrives and goes to the scene of the crime. She learns that the victim was her son’s intermediate school teacher.

At the end of the Heian period, Musashibo Benkei, a warrior monk who hated the Heike clan, was humiliated by his fellow monks and left the mountain monastery. Soon, Benkei competes with the Heike warriors on the Gojo Bridge in Kyoto and takes away their swords. One night he tried to stop a young man who had a beautiful sword on his belt and fought him, but he could not win. Knowing that this young man Ushiwakamaru (Minamoto no Yoshitsune) is looking for an opportunity to overthrow the Heike clan, Benkei asks him to let him join him.

刃傷騒ぎで殺された前任者の代わりに、派手な装束の美青年、奥田右京亮が南町奉行として赴任する。彼は若いながらも老中酒井に引き立てられた野心家だった。一方、同奉行所の同心にして仕事人の主水は、江戸市中を暴れ回る旗本愚連隊の事件を担当していた。長屋で愚連隊に殺された浪人について探りを入れる主水は、子連れの仕事人・文七やなじみの店のおかみ・おふくらの情報から、事件の裏に右京亮が潜んでいることに気付く。

主水の同僚であり、隣人でもあった同心・清原が殺された。清原は両替商の枡屋をゆすって金を脅し取ろうとしていたことから、枡屋の代理人・真砂屋に刺されたのだ。主水が捜査を始めた一方、枡屋は主水に刺客を放つが、主水は辛うじて切り抜ける。だがそんな時、主水が手を出した娘が自殺、主水は窮地に立たされる。実はその自殺もまた枡屋の謀略だった。憤る主水は、久しぶりに再会したかんざし刺しの秀ら仲間たちと反撃に転じる。

幕末。14代将軍・家茂が逝去し、跡継ぎ慶喜の住む京都に将軍家の密書が運ばれることになる。だが、主水ら品川宿の同心が護衛する中、何者かに密書が奪われてしまった。責任を問われた主水と上司の筆頭同心・田中は、密書奪還のため京都へ。密書には初代将軍家康公が築いた黒谷屋敷に隠されている秘密が記されていたという。屋敷に向かった主水たちだが、そこは侵入者を阻む罠がいたるところに仕掛けられたからくり屋敷だった。

江戸の方々で、口に六文銭をくわえさせられた遺体が発見される。南町奉行所では役立たず扱いされる同心だが、実は仕事人の中村主水は、公務として捜査を始める。一方、主水ら仕事人の元締めである三味線弾きのおりくは、見つかった遺体が仕事人ばかりだと気づき、その裏に大掛かりな陰謀があることを知る。主水らはやがて黒幕が江戸中の“仕事”を独占しようとたくらむ大物仕事人・庄兵衛の一味であることを突き止める。

神波史男のシナリオを工藤栄一が監督した。仙元誠三によるキャメラは、光と闇をスタイリッシュに描き出すことに成功している。 　雨の夜、ナイフで何度も刺された女子短大生の死体が見つかる。事件の捜査には、有能だが強引なやり方で評判の悪い刑事、大滝も加わった。大滝は恵子という女と同棲している。彼女はかつて麻薬取締法違反で逮捕した阪上の情婦だった。阪上が出所し、恵子の家に転がり込んでくる。大滝と阪上、そして恵子とその息子との、奇妙な共同生活が始まった。大滝は参考人として田中という男を別件逮捕、殴る蹴るの尋問を行い捜査から外されてしまう。阪上は再び覚醒剤に手を出すようになり保護されていった。大滝は恵子に、おとり捜査の協力を願い出る。

稲川圭子（小林麻美）は、婚約者の田村樹生（小林薫）のことで神経科医の会沢（高橋悦史）を訪ねた。樹生の三人の兄が次々と蒸発するという謎の事件が続き、そして今度は自分が蒸発してしまうのではないかという強迫観念にとらわれて樹生がノイローゼに陥ってしまったのだ。まるで神隠しにあうかのように忽然と人が消える。その事件を解く鍵として、会沢は樹生に夢の記述を勧める。夢という形で近い将来に起こることを予見する本能が人間にはあるのだという。樹生と圭子はやがて三人の蒸発には奇妙な関連があることに気付くのだが…。

The story is set in Bakumatsu and revolves around the Bunta Sugawara character, a yakuza (of course :) but instead of a modern yakuza/gangster, he's a gambler/bakuto). After he kills someone and gets wound, is saved by a blind woman (Mitsuko Baishô), who took care of him. They has a happy time under the protection of the Tomisaburo Wakayama character, an oybun. But of course, happy time doesn't last long. The story is also related to Okada Izo and the Shinsengumi (w/ Kondo Isami played by Makoto Sato)

総合病院の院長・戸谷信一は、妻とは別居中で、横武たつ子、藤島チセのふたりの愛人を金づるとしていた。たつ子もチセも夫とに嫌気が差していることから、戸谷はその夫たちを殺害。さらに、殺害に共謀した婦長・寺島トヨの存在も邪魔になり…。

京浜工業地帯の一角で鉄工所を経営している川瀬周三は、昭和４１年になって、めっきり身体のおとろえを覚え、工場の実務を２６歳になる一人息子の武志に譲った。そして、秋には、妻・雪枝の郷里から田切杏子を迎え、結婚式をひかえていた。順風満帆、周三にはおだやかな老後が残されているだけのように思えた。昭和４１年５月、武志は、友人吉川と近くの釣り堀に出かけた帰り道、ある若者とすれ違った瞬間、腹部を刃物で刺され「お父さん、口惜しいよ、こんなことで死ぬなんて、仇は必ずとってくれよ」と言うと、周三の腕の中で息たえた。

老中・田沼意次が幕政を裏で操り、金権政治による腐敗が世にはびこる徳川10代将軍・家治の時代。市民生活の舞台裏では、金で殺しを請け負う“闇の狩人”たちが暗躍していた。ある事件をきっかけに記憶を失っていた浪人の谷川はひょんなことから闇の狩人の元締めのひとり、五名の下で働くようになる。やがて五名は、元北前藩の悪徳家老・下国左門から、お家再興を願う元藩士たちを亡き者にするよう殺しの依頼を受けるのだが…。

After World War II, when Okinawa was under control of the United States, the local yakuza prospered. But when Okinawa is returned to Japan, the mainland yakuza tries to take over; the local yakuza tries to compete. Now sides are drawn among the local yakuza guys who used to be best friends since their childhood, and brother fights brother. It results in the biggest yakuza war in Okinawa.

A chance encounter with Yukiko Hirai one rainy night brings a new romance into Ryohei's life, and he and Yukiko fall deeply in love. Yukiko, however, reveals that she has a violent husband in prison - with only a week left until his release. Ryohei, desperate to maintain his social standing, brings Yukiko to the mountains in Nagano and sets in motion an unthinkable, tragic chain of events.

The Crazy Cats, a Japanese musical-comedy group, were showcased a series of comic adventures throughout the 1960s. Las Vegas Free-For-All, one of their most popular movies, featured scenes filmed on location in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Hawaii. Appearing with the seven Cats were the lovely Mie Hama and such Japanese musical artists as The Peanuts, The Johnnys, The Drifters, and Jackie Yoshikawa & the Blue Comets.

Zatoichi comes upon the town of Tonda, overrun by gangsters. Using one of his favorite techniques, Zatoichi proceeds to win 8 ryo in a rigged gambling game. Of course, the local gangsters attempt to kill him, and the adventure begins. It turns out a blacksmith named Senzo examines Zatoichi's cane sword, and discovers it to be forged by his old mentor. Senzo discovers the sword is at the end of its usefulness and will break when it is used next.

A group of ne'er-do-wells live happily in the slums of what is now Tokyo and have a number of adventures: they get drunk and go whoring, revenge themselves on cruel landlords, animate the corpse of a money-lender in order to frighten people. Then they assist at the marriage of a lovely girl and almost kill themselves gambling to provide her with a dowry.
