太陽系の果てにたった独りで送られた宇宙飛行士ヤクブ（アダム・サンドラー）は調査任務を始めて半年、地球に戻る頃には妻レンカ（キャリー・マリガン）との夫婦関係が終わりを迎えてしまうのではないかと不安に駆られる。関係を修復しようと必死になるヤクブは、宇宙船に潜んでいた太古の謎の生物ハヌーシュに手を差し伸べられる。手遅れになる前に、ヤクブはハヌーシュの力を借り、何が間違っていたのかを見つけようと奮闘する。
