1970年代カンボジアの暗部“クメール・ルージュ”、いわゆるポル＝ポト派による前代未聞の大量虐殺を紐解いていく渾身のドキュメンタリー。当時13歳だったリティ・パニュ監督自身の体験を、土人形に託して描く。
