アッテンボロー監督による、喜劇王チャーリー・チャップリンの生涯を描いた作品。映画は、チャップリンが幼少の頃から、名門カルノー一座の看板俳優時代、そしてハリウッドでの映画製作、富と名声を得、やがて映画「チャップリンの独裁者」の製作に纏わる国外追放、終戦後のアメリカへの帰国から白髪のはえるまで、彼の一生を克明に追って行きながら、その中での孤独、悲しみ、苦しみ、さらには母、兄弟、恋人などの彼に関わる人物をも含み、チャップリンの人生の軌跡を描いてゆく。

第2次世界大戦時、24回の白昼爆撃の任務を遂行していた唯一のB－17爆撃機、メンフィス・ベル。故郷に帰るまであと残る最後の1回の飛行を前に、ほとんどが10代の若者の乗組員達は明日を胸にそれぞれの思いで前夜を過ごしていた。そして翌朝、朝焼け雲をついてメンフィス・ベルと10人の若者は飛び立ってゆく。

秘密組織スメルシュによって各国の諜報部員が次々と抹殺されて行く。英情報部は、００７のコードネームを後輩に譲り今では隠居生活を営む元祖ジェームズ・ボンドにスメルシュ打倒を依頼するが……。ショーン・コネリーの００７が人気を博していた当時、唯一版権が製作会社イオン・プロになかった『カジノ・ロワイヤル』をプロデューサー、チャールズ・Ｋ・フェルドマンがコロムビアで映画化した一大パロディ。笑いは泥臭く全く洗練されていないし、５人の監督の個性が裏目に出たのかシーンによっての落差が激しく、お世辞にも良く出来た作品とは言い難いが、とにかく賑やか。呆けて見るにはこれ以上の映画はないだろう。バート・バカラックの音楽は絶品、大ヒット主題歌“愛のおもかげ（Ｌｏｏｋ　ｏｆ　Ｌｏｖｅ）”も素晴らしくサウンドトラックの充実が最大の魅力。

アレック・ギネス、ピーター・セラーズほか、キャラクター豊かな役者陣の名演が光る傑作ブラック・コメディー。 舞台はロンドン。キングスクロス駅近くに住むウィルバーフォース夫人の家に、ある日5人の奇妙な男たちが部屋を借りた。彼らは楽団員で、ここで練習をさせてほしいと言うが、じつは現金輸送車を狙う強盗団だった。ありがた迷惑なおせっかいやきの夫人に悩まされながら、5人は計画を練り、ついに行動を開始するが…。
