Furtively About Kira
Director of Photography
In VGIK, she was a student of the workshop of Sergei Gerasimov and Tamara Makarova, and watched Godard's "Last Breath" and thought, nothing more is needed. Everything is already there. But, in the end, without her, without her 22 films, the history of world cinema would be incomplete. In our country, her name has become one of the undisputed geniuses-Tarkovsky, Parajanov, Herman, Sokurov. The brilliant Kira Muratova looks at a person with irony, as if from a distance and from above, as if at a funny puppet theater, but her gaze is full of sympathy. It divides artists into two categories: preachers and gamblers. Of course, he considers himself one of the latter. Chance is her muse. Improvisation is a feature of the method. And what is life but improvisation? In contrast to Rene Clair with his phrase " my film is ready. It remains only to remove it", goes to the set, opening up to life, the game of chance.

The Luck Meter
Director of Photography
It is a portrait film of Boris Mirkin, one of the pioneers of Soviet programming. In the film, Mirkine does not speak so much of the artificial intelligence as the chapka (fur cap) he bought in London, the collection of horse figurines or his children scattered in different countries. In fact, it is not really a gay story because it is the portrait of a whole generation of Soviet scientists. He started working in cybernetics in a country where artificial intelligence was used to study the daily behavior of villagers. He left because his family dreaded the pogroms against the Jews. He made a career in the West. He came back because in Russia, we think in Russian.

Endowed with outstanding cinematography, and in-depth interviews with competitors, this documentary underlines the gender parity being achieved at an Olympic level. Women compete in ski jumping for the first time at the Winter Games, and Canada is seen beating the United States at the last gasp in the women's ice hockey final. Disciplines given prominence here include speed skating, figure skating, aerial skiing, curling, and the biathlon. Training is analysed as much as the competitions themselves. A suite of accidents and mishaps, and the consequent tears of frustration, remind us that the Olympics is not just about winning.

Who Is This Kusturica?
Director of Photography
Emir Kusturica views himself as a rock musician and believes that he became a world-famous filmmaker by pure chance, as he shoots his movies only in between concert tours with the “No Smoking Orchestra” band. At these little pinpoints of time he gets “Palms d’Or” at Cannes, “Golden Lions” in Venice, builds his own villages, a power plant and a piste and regrets not becoming a professional football player. Kusturica’s own living is very much similar to his movies, where shoes are polished with cats, death is treated like a story from tabloid press, and life is a miracle...

More than a story of survival against ethics, or individuality against collectivity, HARVEST TIME is a piercing meditation on family unity. - Written by Anonymous

This is how contemporaries characterized one of the most striking figures of the Silver Age - the poet Andrei Bely. This film, consisting of eight parts, represents fragments of Andrei Bely's biography scattered over time. The main women in the poet's life were Asya Turgeneva, Lyubov Mendeleeva, Nina Petrovskaya, Claudia Vasilyeva - the film is also about them.

Shurochka, the film’s hero, spends her life walking from one village to another in order to weigh tractors. Yet, this makes just one part of her existence. 600 km north of Arkhangelsk on the shore of the White Sea is the fishing village of Shoyna. When Tsar Nicholas II abdicated, 43 people agreed to follow him into exile and share his prison life with him. Only 43 - out of the entire multimillion-dollar Russia! Among them there was not a single relative of the Tsar and Tsarina, not a single member of the royal family. There were no close friends of Nikolai P's youth, whose friendship he treasured all his life. Even the Romanovs' blood relatives abroad renounced the Royal Family.
