オッド・トーマスはダイナーに勤務する20歳のコックである一方、実は霊能力の持ち主。女の子の霊に導かれて殺人犯を捜し出すなど、死者が見えると放ってはおけない。そんなある日、ダイナーでボダッハという気持ち悪い悪霊を大量に見つける。ボダッハは流血の惨劇が近づいていることをときに現れる悪霊だった。
