ヨーロッパを傷心旅行中のアメリカ人旅行者フランクは、ヴェネチアへ向かう列車の中で、ミステリアスな美女エリーズと知り合う。たちまち彼女の魅力のとりことなるフランクだったが、その出会いは偶然とはいえなかった。国際的に追われる大物犯罪者を恋人に持つエリーズは、捜査班を攪乱するため、背格好の似たフランクに目を付けたのだ。そんな事情を知らないフランクは、エリーズに誘われるまま行動をともにする。
