He tries his hand at Directing, but struggles to make the transition. Shinjiro turns to alcohol to cope with his plight. But when the manager of a theater being closed down turns to Shinjiro to direct its final performance, he works with a group young dancers and in the process learns a few things about himself. The movie is very well done and worth the price of admission. A view into the Japanese dancing world, as well as Japanese society.

1920年代のパリ。エコール・ド・パリの旗手として藤田嗣治は画壇での地位を確立させていた。画家仲間や踊り子たちとの乱痴気騒ぎにうつつを抜かす彼は、絵が巧くても名声を得られねば大成しないとの持論を口にしており、その中で彼の作品は評判を高めていた。
1940年代の日本。帰国した藤田は軍部より戦意高揚画の製作を依頼され意欲を見せていた。だが空襲が東京に迫り、妻と疎開した田舎の農家の人々と豊かな自然に新たな日本を再発見してゆく一方で日本は敗戦への道を辿ってゆくのだった。

のどかな日曜日の朝。東京郊外にあるマンションの一室に、一仕事終えた殺し屋が帰ってくる。ところで、その隣の102号室の広介と小夜子の若夫婦には、最近めっきり会話が減っていた。テレビの子供向け番組リキッドマンの脚本家である広介は番組の打ち切りの知らせに呆然とし、小夜子も亭主と大家の関係を怪しんでいる。そんなふたりが、コミュニケーションを取ろうとキャッチボールをしに表へ出た。ところが、どこもかしこもキャッチボール禁止。漸く見つけた駐車場で始めるが、誤ってボールをポルシェにぶつけてしまう。小夜子は、202号室の落合家のハーフの娘・明日香を塾まで送り迎えするというバイトをしている。明日香は、いつも塾のライバルに勝つことを生き甲斐にしている変わった小学生。日曜だというのに、朝から机に向かって勉強に余念がない。変わっていると言えば、301号室に住む板橋育代も変わっていた。彼女は、ストーカー・プレイを楽しむ客相手の新手の風俗嬢で、今日も常連の上野を相手にストーカーに怯えるOLを演じていた。そんな彼女と同じフロアの303号室には、老婦人・大久保絹代が独り暮らしをしている。毎日、決まって正午になると奇声を発する絹代。その訳を問う大家の根津亜矢子に向かって「ある日突然声が聞こえなくなったら、誰か自分が死んだことに気づいてくれるから。なーんちゃって」と説明するのであった。一方、大家の亜矢子もまた、近所のアパートに秘密の隠れ家を持ち、そこで自画像を描いている変わった女性だ。昼下がり、ホラー映画が好きな彼女は、ビデオ屋で顔を合わせた広介を部屋に誘って絵を披露した。やがて、一日が暮れていく。明日香の送り迎えのバイトを終えた小夜子は、無一文で飲んでいる広介を居酒屋から連れ帰る途中、ポルシェの持ち主に追いかけられ、怪我をして病院に運ばれてしまう。同じ頃、マンションの屋上では絹代が騒ぎを起こしていた。もうすぐ故郷の星から迎えが来ると言って、空を見上げる絹代。やがて、彼女は忽然と野次馬の前から姿を消すのだった。一夜明けて月曜日の朝、何事もなかったようにまた一週間が始まった。広介夫婦には会話が甦り、明日香は学校へ向かう途中のゴミ捨て場に殺し屋の死体を見つける。

Takashi and four of his classmates, fourth-grade students, cannot succeed in doing a back pullover around a horizontal bar. Their gym teacher warns them: they have one week to succeed; if they resign now, then, tomorrow, facing life difficulties, they will always run away and become bums. Edogawa Rampo is a writer whose latest work is censored by the government, deemed too disturbing and injurious to the public to be allowed to be published. As the film progresses, fantasy and reality intermingle in a tale that draws heavily on influences from Poe and Stoker's Dracula. The film's strongly Expressionistic direction skillfully combines a variety of media (animation, computer-generated imagery, grainy black-and-white fast film stock, color negatives) for artistic effect.

Everything carries on smoothly until the eldest and the fourth sons' modus operandi go awry, the mother's lover runs off with another woman, and disasters strike one after another. This film is a collaboration between Yoichi Sai and Goro Kishitani following "All Under the Moon." The family business of the Ameya family is defrauding people. The matriarch, who keeps getting married and divorced, has five children with different fathers. The Ameya family chases after fortune and leaves a trail of trouble on their path.
Straight-laced, honest Japanese travel agent Misuzu gets a job as a tour guide so that she can the world. On her first assignment in Bangkok, Thailand she does her best for her ungrateful charges, but gets fired when the hotel (through no fault of her own) misplaces all their passports. She also finds herself the victim of a scam by two Japanese con-artists (innocent-looking Tondabayashi and half-Thai Thuy) living in Bangkok. When the hotel finds the passports, she decides to buck the system and sell them on the black market. She teams up with the two con-artists to scam, rip off and rob all the Japanese tourists in Bangkok. They keep trying to pull off bigger and bigger jobs, and end up in trouble with two dumb, sightseeing yakuza, among others. Also, a love triangle forms as Tondabayashi falls for Misuzu, and Misuzu falls for the older Thuy.
