裕福な商人だった父が財宝を積んだ船を嵐で失い破産、娘のベル(レア・セドゥ)たちは都会の贅沢な暮らしに別れを告げ、田舎へと引っ越すことになった。母亡き後、わがままに育てられた3人の兄と2人の姉は田舎暮らしに不満を募らせるが、ベルは家族が一緒にいるだけで幸せだった。そんなある日、船が一隻だけ見つかったという報せが入り、父は喜び勇んで街へ駆けつけるが、借金のカタに船を奪われてしまう。失意の帰り道、吹雪に見舞われ死に瀕した彼は森の奥にたたずむ古城を発見。城の中に入ると、豪華な食事やワイン、そして家族が望んでいたドレスや宝飾品の山がそこにあった。

孤児のダスタンは、国王にその勇気を讃えられ下級階級から王子として迎えられた。 ダスタンと兄王子二人はコシュカーン征服への遠征途中、叔父ニザムと長兄タス王子が聖なる都アラムートの裏切りを訴えアラムート攻めが決定した、 次兄のガーシヴ王子率いる軍が正門を攻めている間に、ダスタンは東門を制圧する。本殿制圧中にアラムートから逃走しようとした騎士と戦ったダスタンは、偶然に、水晶の柄の内側に「時間の砂」を詰めた短剣を手にいれる。
