オスマン帝国の小さな村で生まれ育ったアルメニア人の青年ミカエルは、1914年、裕福な家庭の娘マラルと婚約し、彼女の持参金を学資にしてコンスタンチンノープルにある帝国医学大学へと入学。その地でミカエルは同郷のアルメニア人女性アナと出会い、彼女に恋心を抱くが、既に彼女にはアメリカ人記者のクリスという恋人がいた。第1次世界大戦の勃発とともにアルメニア人への弾圧が強まり、彼らは過酷な運命を歩むはめとなる。

清朝5代皇帝の雍正帝は、政敵たちを一掃するため、精鋭の暗殺部隊“血滴子”をひそかに結成。必殺の武器・空飛ぶギロチンを自在に操る彼らは、人々に恐れられることに。幼なじみの義兄弟のうち、冷は“血滴子”の一員、一方、海都は皇太子のおそばで育ち、やがて鉄砲隊のリーダーへと成長。天狼率いる遊牧民たちが清朝に反旗を翻したのを受けて、海都も、冷ら“血滴子”の仲間とともに討伐隊に加わり、遊牧民たちのあとを追う。

Drawing on the composer’s brilliant ability to evoke work and labour in his music, animator Patrick Bouchard brings earth to life through animated clay sculptures, creating a tactile nightmare in which man is his own slave driver.
