The movie is seen from perspective of a little boy, Hansa and his sister, Cheeku’s eyes. Their father has mysteriously disappeared and a lot of the responsibility falls on Cheeku who has to prevent her house from getting sold and is at the receiving end of a powerful villager’s lecherous advances while little Hansa is too restless and distracted to pay attention to all the trouble his sister is facing.

Devrishi Narad informs Bhagwan Shri Vishnu of atrocities committed by Mahaant on low caste untouchables. Narad is told that a devotee by the name of Eknath has already been born in Paithan, the grandson of Chakrapani, who will ensure equality for all. Eknath turns out to be precocious and is sent out to Janardhan Swami's Ashram. Years later he returns, weds his childhood sweetheart, Girija; visits the Char Dhams (Dwarka, Badrinath, Jaggannath Puri, & Rameshwaram) and sets out to do his fated task much to Mahaant and the Jagirdar Amar's chagrin - who arrest and put him behind bars.

Four young men re-locate from a village in India, to a big city. While attempting to access accomodation, they are repeatedly told that rooms will only be rented to married couples, not to bachelors. Frustrated at this, two of them disguise themselves as women, and pose as wives for the other two males. They are able to secure accomodation with the Mishra family. Complications arise when the two "women" fall in love with Mishra's two lovely daughters - with results that can only be described as hilarious.
