第２次大戦末期のイタリア。空襲で破壊された修道院でカナダ人看護師ハナは、ある患者の世話をしている。重い火傷で英語を話すが自分の名は思い出せない。英陸軍工作兵のキップ、カナダ軍諜報部隊のデヴィッド・カラヴァッジョと共に修道院で一緒になった４人。カラヴァッジョは患者に問いかけ、患者は徐々に記憶を取り戻す。
