学校で哲学を教えている教師カミーユ。彼女は、紛争の最中のサラエボで戯曲を上演するため、従弟のジェローム、メイドのジャミラとともに出発した。そして、カミーユの父で映画監督のヴィッキーもまたしぶしぶこの旅に付き合うのだった。しかし、その過酷さにくじけたヴィッキーは行程半ばにして脱落してしまう。旅を進める3人も戦火のサラエボで捕虜となり、カミーユとジェロームは銃に倒れる。一方、ヴィッキーは“男爵”と呼ばれるプロデューサーの依頼で、新たな映画を監督することになり、さっそく海辺で撮影を開始するのだったが……。
