南米に広がるアマゾンの熱帯雨林と、そこに生きる野生動物たちをとらえたネイチャードキュメンタリー。一匹の小さなフサオマキザルを主人公に、人に飼われていたサルが大自然の中でさまざまな発見をしていくというアドベンチャーストーリー仕立てで描いた。ブラジルに住む少女に飼われていたフサオマキザルのサイは、ある日、飛行機事故でアマゾンの密林に放り出されてしまう。都会育ちのサイは、これまでと全く異なる環境の中、さまざまな動物や昆虫、植物に触れ、厳しい大自然を生き抜くための知恵を身につけていく。やがてサイは、自分と同じ野生のフサオマキザルの群れと出会う。「ホワイト・プラネット」のティエリー・ラコベール監督とスタッフたちが、2年の歳月をかけてアマゾンでの撮影を敢行し、作り上げた。日本版にはココリコ・田中直樹によるオリジナルのナレーションがつく。
