ルーマニアのカルパチア地方からイギリスのロンドンまで、謎めいた50個の無記名の木箱を運ぶためチャーターされた帆船デメテル号は、その航海の途上で毎夜、不可解な出来事に遭遇する。デメテル号船長の航海日誌に記されたおよそ1カ月におよぶ無慈悲な存在との対峙の記録をもとに、大海原をわたるデメテル号に何が起こったのか、そして謎に包まれた50個の木箱の中身をめぐる恐怖の物語が展開する。

The talented young entrepreneur Finn Sieveking has to cope with the death of his mother Maria, who was always at his side in the management of the traditional Hamburg family business. Out of nowhere the adventurer Jonathan Clark appears, who introduces himself as his biological father.
