里見浩太郎主演のシリーズ第二作。蝦夷を舞台に剣と恋の大スペクタクル痛快作。四代将軍家綱の世、蝦夷各地でアイヌの一族が蜂起し、松前藩の砦を次々と襲っていた。家綱は乳兄弟である京月獅子之助をアイヌとの和睦の使者として、蝦夷に派遣する。獅子之助は腰巾着の勘次とお町をお供に蝦夷に乗り込む。アイヌの頭目クチガイは元隠密の山内左馬之助らと結託し、白熊族の頭目タチキを扇動していた。タチキは彼らから渡された銃を使って砦を襲撃していたのだ。

里見浩太郎の初主演による痛快娯楽時代劇。黄金蜘蛛党と名乗る黒頭巾の一団が上信越の国境付近に出没。江戸ヘ向かう佐渡からの金輸送隊を襲撃する事件が続発していた。この事件を調べるため、将軍家綱は乳兄弟である京月獅子之助を現地に派遣する。獅子之助は輸送団の護衛についていて殺された友人の妹と素っ飛びの勘次を伴って江戸を出発した。信州・上田城で、藩主達から輸送隊消失の状況を聞いた獅子之助は次席家老小市将監の様子に不審感を持つ。
