第2次大戦ヨーロッパ戦線。ランス率いる米軍駆逐戦車小隊は、ガス欠により本隊とはぐれてしまった。燃料を得るためドイツ軍のトラックを襲撃した彼らは、捕らわれていたクローデットというシスターを救出する。シスターによると、彼女が働く孤児施設が敵地にあり、まだ子どもが取り残されているという。現地一帯は空爆が予定され、数時間後には焦土と化す。ランスたちは危険を顧みず子どもたちの救出へと向かう。
