カイラは新進のシネマトグラファー。いつか監督として自分の作品を撮りたいと思っているが、今は小さな仕事をこなす毎日。カイラは付き合っていたレストラン・オーナーのシドへの気持ちが薄れ、映画プロデューサーのラグーと浮気したりもするが、本当にラグーが好きなのかはわからずにいた。とにかくなにもかも、自分の気持ちすらわからず、カイラは悶々としていた。あるとき、ムンバイで住んでいた家を追い出されたカイラは、気が進まないながらもゴアの実家で1カ月ほど過ごすことにする。悩み多きカイラは、ちょうどの機会だと知り合いに紹介されたゴアに住む著名な精神科医、「ジャグ」ことジャハンギール・カーン医師の診断とカウンセリングを受けることにする。
Located in a seaside village in Maharashtra during the 60s, the film unfolds over two decades. It is a tragic tale of how the best of friendships can rupture over a trivial quarrel. Once a rupture takes place, there are always people who know how to turn a quarrel to their own advantage, even if the main adversaries are completely destroyed in the process.
The plot revolves around a boy called Shyam and his relationship with his mother. It shares the effect Shyam's mother has had on Shyam's life and upbringing, and how he is taught to stick to his ideals and principles, even in the face of poverty. The relationships of all the individuals in Shyam's family are explored.
