Madame Anaïs, a countess, whose wealth has been squandered by her husband, runs a brothel. One day she hires a girl and offers her a necklace against a mysterious job. Madame Anaïs's former husband, the count, immediately falls in love with the girl who is dressed as a teenager. After whetting his appetite on the maid, the count expects a very nice time with the girl and they quickly find themselves together in bed. After the first lovemaking, the young lady asks for more, which he provides but gets exhausted and begs for mercy. The girl, by putting a piece of cloth round his neck and nearly strangling him, brings his strength back. Then she definitely strangles him and leaves the house after receiving the necklace from Madame Anaïs (the countess), who then bursts into tears.
Carol runs a hotel where one of the guests, her lover Mathias is a scientist who has invented a pill which can induce instant euphoria and sexual stimulation. Claude is keen to market the pill, but while Mathias is considering this proposition, he finds Carol making love to Lucy, and in his anger, he destroys the formula.
Madame Robert
Madame Robert makes ends meet by running a boarding house, as her colonel widow's pension is not enough. A Norwegian pensioner, being young and athletic, starts doing gymnastics in the nude, in plain view of all respectable guests. Instead of being horrified, that leads everyone to express their inner selfs, as well as outer skin. Madame Robert can't take this, and expels all the guests, save the young Norwegian man, whom she considers a pure youth who didn't intend to start an orgy. Soon, she falls to his manly charms, and then invites back her lodgers to make the boarding house more pleasant, or rather, a "hotel de plaisir".
A young couple discover an ancient book in the attic and start reading the story of the Malemort family: a sombre household set in the nineteenth century in rural France. The old man Deroze plays his violin and tries to seduce the maid. His elder daughter Maxime "qui tue les mouches et deguste en cachette des fruits juteux". Underneath her bourgeois facade her senses are not yet put to rest. There is the rest of this upstairs/downstairs family who is visited by a sea captain who learns of a hidden treasure The storyline of this adult fairy tale is less important than the cinematography and the lyric fairy tale atmosphere that surrounds this movie. A little masterpiece still to be rediscovered.
