20XX年、乗客5000人を乗せた豪華宇宙船アヴァロン号が、新たなる居住地を目指して地球を旅立ち、目的地の惑星に到着するまでの120年の間、乗客たちは冬眠装置で眠り続けていた。しかし、エンジニアのジムと作家のオーロラだけが予定よりも90年近く早く目覚めてしまう。絶望的で孤独な状況下で生き残る方法を模索するうちに、2人は惹かれ合っていく。
