Alex, a lovable, unassuming dog trainer is in love with a great woman - Katherine - smart, talented, from a good family. Katherine adores Alex's quirky sense of humor, honesty and capacity to listen. Having decided to pop the question, Alex is blindsided when Katherine produces a detailed list of well-thought-out "improvements" she feels will tweak Alex on their way to becoming the ideal couple. 主人公のザック(デイン・デハーン)は、最愛の恋人のベス(オーブリー・プラザ)を不慮の事故により亡くし、悲嘆に暮れていた。しかし数日後、思いがけない奇跡が起きる。ベスが墓穴から這い出して、家に戻ってきたのだ!ザックは彼女とは別れるつもりだったのだが、神様がやり直しのチャンスくれたと思い、これまで以上にベスを大切にしようと努める。しかし次第にベスがゾンビとして成長していく姿にザックは戸惑い、段々と心が離れていく自分に気づく。そんなとき、幼なじみのエリカ(アナ・ケンドリック)に出会い、きれいな生身の人間に惹かれはじめるザック。しかし、ゾンビになりかけているベスは、それを許さなかった...。

科学の進化により老化を克服した近未来、そこでは‘時間’が‘通貨’となり世界を支配していた。人間の成長は25歳で止まり、余命（時間）は労働により稼がなければならなかった。そして街は‘タイムゾーン’という境界線により、貧困層が住む〈スラム・ゾーン〉と〈富裕ゾーン〉に明確に分けられ、その行き来は禁止されていた。ある日、ある男から100年の時間をもらったことで殺人容疑をかけられた貧困層の青年ウィルは、スラムゾーンに別れを告げ、富裕ゾーンに逃げ込む。

南極で研究を続ける古代気象学者ジャック・ホール教授は調査データから地球規模の自然危機を予感する。そして、その4か月後、東京などで異常気象が発生し彼の嫌な予感は現実味を帯びてくる。
