春、元美術部で運動音痴の主人公・東島旭は、二ツ坂高校へ入学する。 旭は１つ先輩の宮路真春と出会い、 その強さに憧れ”なぎなた部”入部を決意！ 同級生の八十村将子、紺野さくら、２年生の野上えり、大倉史乃と共に部活動をスタートしたが、 ”練習は楽で運動神経がなくても大丈夫”―そんな誘い文句とは真逆で稽古は過酷そのもの！ やがて3 年生にとって最後となるインターハイ予選を迎える。順調に勝ち進んだ二ツ坂だったが、決勝でダークホースの國陵高校に敗れてしまう。 なかでも國陵の1 年生エース・一堂寧々の強さは圧倒的だった。 野上新部長のもと再スタートを切った二ツ坂は、山奥の尼寺で僧侶・寿慶（江口のりこ）の厳しいしごきによる、地獄の夏合宿を経て一回り大きく成長し、挑んだ秋の大会。 再び二ツ坂の前に宿敵國陵高校と一堂寧々が立ちふさがる。そこで、二ツ坂にとってまさかの出来事が―。 真春は部活動に姿を見せなくなり、精神的支柱を失った二ツ坂はバラバラになってしまう。 そのとき、旭は･･････。物語はクライマックスへ向けて大きく動き出す―。
