What's Not to Love?
Writer
The twisted, sexually offbeat memoir by author Jonathan Ames becomes this original adaptation about the sexual peccadilloes of the writer (playing himself) as he experiences masculinity first hand and lives to write about it. Based on Ames' inflammatory, exquisitely worded, and often tastelessly brilliant columns for the "New York Press."

As Smart As They Are: The Author Project
Himself
A documentary film tracing the collaboration between One Ring Zero, the Brooklyn house-band for McSweeney's Publishing, and an ensemble cast of award-winning authors, each of whom contributed original lyrics. Author Myla Goldberg torments guest singer Syd Straw with tongue twisting, five star vocabulary words. Paul Auster riffs on the ills of Cincinatti and the Iraq war. The film's title, in fact, comes from the inspired dialogue of a talking cockroach.
The Girl Under the Waves
Jonathan
This movie is a four-character improvisation study about the romantic entanglements among the disparate occupants and visitors to a borrowed New York City apartment. Jonathan forgot that he had invited a girlfriend over. They met recently and have been seeing one another but he forgot about it as soon as he met Savannah. She was going to come over to the apartment in the afternoon as he originally thought it was going to be his for a few days (borrowing from a friend's) but due to conflicts and misunderstandings, Savannah and David (who owned the apartment) were occupied as well. Isabel shows up and they hang out until David throws them out after a heated discussion.

Merrill's ex wife shares a whirlpool of scandals that draws them closer together while his chances for ever making movies again slips further away...
