Jonas Carpignano is a filmmaker based in Gioia Tauro. His short films have been shown in film festivals around the world including Venice, Cannes, SXSW and New Directors/New Films. In 2011 his short film A CHJANA, won the Best Short Film at the 68th Venice Film Festival and was awarded a Nastro D’Argento - Special Mention from the Association of Italian Film Critics (SNGCI). His latest short film, YOUNG LIONS OF GYPSY, was part of the Official Selection of the 53rd Critics' Week at Cannes, where it won the Discovery Award. Carpignano was an alum of the 2012 Sundance Screenwriters & Directors Lab, and the recipient Sundance/Mahindra Global Filmmaking Award. In 2012, he was named one of the top 25 new faces in independent film by Filmmaker Magazine. His debut feature film is MEDITERRANEA, selected at La Semaine de la Critique at Cannes IFF.

There is a healthy rivalry between the birthday girl and her 15-year-old sister Chiara as they compete on the dancefloor. It is a happy occasion, and the close-knit family are on top form. However, everything changes the next day when the father disappears. Chiara, unconvinced by the cover story, starts to investigate. As she gets closer to the truth, she is forced to decide what kind of future she wants for herself.

For more than half an hour, 37 law abiding citizens in Queens watched their neighbor, Kitty Genovese, being brutally killed outside their apartment building. Florel and Jack Bernstein were among those bystanders. A shirt film.
Cinematography
Two boys and close family friends, Jeremy and Alphonse, American and French, spend a few weeks together in Jeremy’s house in Brooklyn. Jeremy is confused about his understanding of the friendship, while obsessed with the ducks in the Prospect Park’s lake and finishing a school paper about their migration. Alphonse likes to ride bicycles and doesn’t want to leave town. The ducks inevitably leave, Alphonse goes back to Paris, and Jeremy stays in his house, but all of them depart to something new.
