サリヤは前途有望な学生として周囲の期待も大きかった。10代のとき、彼は先天性の病で視力の95％を失うが、ホテルマンになる夢を諦め切れず、弱視を隠してミュンヘンにある5つ星ホテルの試験を受ける。みごと研修生となったサリヤだが、一緒に採用されたマックスに目の秘密を知られてしまう。しかし、マックスはサリヤの気持ちを知って協力を誓う。そんなある日、サリヤはホテルに野菜を配送するラウラに好意を抱く。

1958年の西ドイツ・フランクフルト。第2次世界大戦の終結から10年以上が経過し、復興後の西ドイツではナチスドイツの行いについての認識が薄れていた。そんな中、アウシュビッツ強制収容所にいたナチスの親衛隊員が、規約に違反して教師をしていることがわかる。検察官のヨハンらは、さまざまな圧力を受けながらも、アウシュビッツで起きたことを暴いていく。
