Noble "Kid" Chissell (February 16, 1905 – November 8, 1987) was a boxing champion, actor, and dance marathon champion.
Chissell, former U.S. Navy Middleweight Boxing Champ (1932), received an award in 1982 for having over 1,000 screen credits. As a prizefighter he once fought "Packy East", later known as Bob Hope. Even earlier he won the 1928 World Marathon Dance Champion contest. He first gained international prominence as the villainous sulky driver, "Flea-Flit Dryer", in the film Home in Indiana, opposite Walter Brennan, Ward Bond, Lon McAllister, June Haver, and Jeanne Crain. Numerous other motion pictures include his portrayal of a middle-weight champ in Ex-Champ, prison guard with Susan Hayward in I Want to Live!, a gambler in Guys and Dolls, police officer Noble in The Big Chase, and deputy sheriff with Jane Fonda in Cat Ballou. In the first and sixth episodes of Disney's World of Color series, Gallegher, Chissell played the Irish fight referee and jailer opposite Edmond O'Brien. He was croupier at the roulette game in "Tiger by the Tail", one of the Gunsmoke episodes. Life of Riley, Dragnet, and Playhouse 90 and People's Court were other series Chissell worked in.

Shot at the Corrigan Ranch in 1950, TEXAS KID co-starred Mercury Records recording artist John Laurenz as Pepe and stuntman Hugh Hooker as the Kid. Hooker, a specialist in stunts involving horses and stagecoaches, often doubled Gene Autry and even produced a few movies, including the low-budget gem . That movie's star was Hugh's teenage son Buddy Joe Hooker, whose own subsequent, stellar stunt career inspired HOOPER (1978), Burt Reynolds' hit comedy tribute to movie stuntmen.

It does, but not in the way he hoped.

The film pivots around the local Norwegian doctor and his family. The doctor's wife (Ruth Gordon) wants to hold on to the pretence of gracious living and ignore their German occupiers. The doctor, Martin Stensgard (Walter Huston), would also prefer to stay neutral, but is torn. His brother-in-law, the wealthy owner of the local fish cannery, collaborates with the Nazis. The doctor's daughter, Karen (Ann Sheridan), is involved with the resistance and with its leader Gunnar Brogge (Errol Flynn). The doctor's son has just returned to town, having been sent down from the university, and is soon influenced by his Nazi-sympathizer uncle. Captain Koenig (Helmut Dantine), the young German commandant of the occupying garrison, whose fanatic determination to do everything by the book and spoutings about the invincibility of the Reich hides a growing fear of a local uprising.

Although he meets Julie Mirbeau and they are attracted to each other, the fact that her father heads the lottery means they end up on opposite sides. When her father is killed, Julie becomes more and more involved in the shady activities and in blocking Reynolds' attempts at prosecution.
A shifty boxing promoter places an amateur in fixed fights, then hands his contract over to an suspicious female investigative reporter as a raffle prize. He later regrets his actions, however, when the boxer becomes an honest champion.
Guerrilla
When transplanted Texan Bob Seton arrives in Lawrence, Kansas he finds much to like about the place, especially Mary McCloud, daughter of the local banker. Politics is in the air however. It's just prior to the civil war and there is already a sharp division in the Territory as to whether it will remain slave-free. When he gets the opportunity to run for marshal, Seton finds himself running against the respected local schoolteacher, William Cantrell. Not is what it seems however. While acting as the upstanding citizen in public, Cantrell is dangerously ambitious and is prepared to do anything to make his mark, and his fortune, on the Territory. When he loses the race for marshal, he forms a group of raiders who run guns into the territory and rob and terrorize settlers throughout the territory. Eventually donning Confederate uniforms, it is left to Seton and the good citizens of Lawrence to face Cantrell and his raiders in one final clash.
