Kaleb is about to turn 30 and has never been lonelier. He’s fighting with his sister over their inheritance and has cut ties with his best friend. Passionate about exotic animals, he comes home one day with an unusual spider and accidentally lets it slip away. Soon his underprivileged suburb is thrown into chaos as the deadly arachnids multiply. Ordered to be placed under quarantine, the project's inhabitants are forced to live in lockdown alongside terrifying spiders that are becoming bigger and bigger.

At dawn, Clarisse takes a last look at her husband and two sleeping children, hesitates to leave a note, and hits the road. A desperate escape that gradually reveals its layers as Clarisse — who seems to have an extra-sensory connection to the family she has left behind — loses herself in the world.

Martin, an ex-Parisian well-heeled hipster passionate about Gustave Flaubert who settled into a Norman village as a baker, sees an English couple moving into a small farm nearby. Not only are the names of the new arrivals Gemma and Charles Bovery, but their behavior also seems to be inspired by Flaubert's heroes.

A series of seemingly unconnected events and 50 important speaking parts make this film a jigsaw puzzle to be solved by the viewer. Martin and Claire were separated in childhood, and are brought together by a series of coincidences. A tragic car crash is central to the story, but seemingly unimportant events can hold great significance. Through a montage of different film stock and techniques director Diane Bertrand creates pieces of a puzzle, from which the viewer has to piece together a story. That's the premise of the film, and it is solvable. You just have to work a bit...
