When fame and fortune caused Frank to lose his sense of what's truely important, he realised he's going to have to get in touch with his roots if there's ever going to be a comeback.

1943年、第二次世界大戦真只中のアメリカ。プロ野球選手たちも次々と戦場へ駆り出され、大リーグの運営は危機を迎えていた。オレゴンの片田舎に住むソフトボール・リーグ選手、ドティ・ヒンソンとキット・ケラーの姉妹のところへ、ある日プロ野球のスカウトマンが訪ねてきて、近く発足する全米女子プロ野球リーグに参加しないかと誘う。
