弁護士を目指すヴェロニカはニューヨークの大手法律事務所の就職試験を受けるが、故郷ネプチューンの高校の元同級生で今は人気歌手ボニーになったキャリーが自宅の風呂で感電死したと知る。警察はキャリーと交際していた、ヴェロニカの元友人ローガンが殺したと疑い、ローガンは弁護士選びを手伝うようヴェロニカに依頼。9年ぶりにネプチューンに戻ったヴェロニカは、キャリーにストーカーのルビーがつきまとっていたと知る。
