Ken Ogata plays Shiro Miyagi, a sprinter with Olympic aspirations whose dreams were shattered by WWII. A broken man, he leads the dissolute life of a gigolo until a chance meeting with a fiery young athlete named Hiroko (Michiyo Yasuda). Realizing that she has talent as a sprinter, Miyagi sees a second chance at Olympic glory in becoming her coach. Following Miyagi’s unconventional, military-style training, Hiroko sets a record for the 100-meter dash, but her greatest hurdle proves to be a “sex check” which all professional athletes must pass.

Toramatsu is a very enthusiastic policeman. Believing that the police should help others he is dismissed the force when his pistol is stolen while doing one of his good deeds. He saves a child from drowning, restores it to his mother, then finds that someone has run off with his gun and later uses it to kill. Then he breaks up a group of hoodlums attacking a young girl named Mieko, and the police, his former friends, deciding he has gone too far, decide to sue him. On top of this the girl gets hurt and, consequently, a child from the kindergarten where Mieko teaches is kidnapped on his way home. Impersonating a policeman he tracks down the gangsters and rescues the boy. Due to this he also uncovers a scandal which allows the police to make a long due clean up in the political world. As a reward for all of this he wins the regard of the girl but now faces a stiff prison sentence for impersonating the policeman he had been and which, at heart, he truly remains.

Akiko lives with her brother Toshio in suburban Tokyo working in different companies. One day, Toshio loses 500,000 yen which he was holding for his section chief, and as he is unable to return the money, tries to kill himself. Akiko determines to obtain the money by selling her chastity and soon becomes the mistress of Hasegawa, for 500,000 yen. Hasegawa gives her the money but does not make advances. Before she became Hasegawa's mistress Akiko was in love with Wake, who works in the same Company. Gradually Akiko begins to develop a liking for Hasegawa and in turn, her love for Wake gradually weakens...

狸の国。カチカチ山でやけどを負った父の泥右衛門を手当てするため、お黒は人間の栗助から薬を買っていた。お黒も栗助もお互いのことを気に入っているが、それを口にはしない。狸御殿では、人間との結婚を望むきぬた姫が、狸吉郎との見合いを嫌って家出してしまい大騒ぎ。ひょんなことから狸御殿に紛れ込んだお黒は、顔がきぬた姫と瓜二つなことから、姫の身代わりとして狸吉郎と見合いをすることになってしまう。お見合いは成功、二人の仲はどんどん近づいていくが、そこへ人間に相手をされず意気消沈のきぬた姫が帰ってきた。

瀬戸内海の真只中、江田島の海軍兵学校は日本海軍揺籃の地であった。太平洋戦争も激烈をきわめて来た昭和十七年十二月、石川竜太郎は海軍兵学校に入学し、兵学校での分隊生活が始まった。ある日、自習室に集められた石川ら分隊の新入生は、分隊伍長の佐田を中心とする生徒から激しく叱責されたが、反発した村瀬真一は、気の荒い上級生の小暮になぐられる。石川は村瀬と小暮にどこか魅かれるものを感じていた。
