太陽フレアの影響で地上の文明が崩壊し、地下シェルターに逃れて生き延びたロボット技術者のフィンチは、愛犬と自ら作り出したロボットとともに、安心して暮らせる新たな家を見つけるための旅に出る。さまざまな危険や困難が待ち受けるその旅を通して、人間と犬とロボットという個性的な組み合わせの一行は、次第に家族のように心を通わせていく。
