北海道で医大に通う田中(三浦春馬)は、ボランティア活動を通じて体が不自由な鹿野(大泉洋)と出会う。鹿野は病院を出てボランティアを募り、両親の助けも借りて一風変わった自立生活をスタートさせる。ある日、新人ボランティアの美咲(高畑充希)に恋をした鹿野は、ラブレターの代筆を田中に頼む。ところが美咲は田中の恋人だった。
