Tōko works as a shrine maiden. Her days are full of joy, as she would be called out by the village people to play or sometimes simply savor time with nothing spectacular to do. One day, Tōko finds out that the village festival which she has been waiting for with great anticipation will be cancelled due to an old superstition. Tōko, who wants to make the festival happen, starts preparations against the advice of the villagers. Events unfold in an unexpected direction when she meets a strange little girl by the lake.
現在と過去、時を経て繰り返される少年少女による2つの事件を通して、心に傷を抱えた人々の再生を描いたヒューマンドラマ。監督は、原田眞人、成島出、篠原哲雄、深川栄洋らの作品で助監督を務め、本作で監督デビューとなる島田伊智郎。 13歳の時に友人の犯行によって妹を亡くした過去を持つ新聞記者の月野木薫。今は結婚式を間近に控え幸せな日々に期待を抱いているが、一方で、亡き妹に対する後ろめたい気持ちも抱えていた。そんなある日、中学校の屋上から女子生徒が転落死する事件が発生。女子生徒を転落させた加害少女は、月野木が面倒を見ている友人・岡田の娘の茜だった。そして、被害者の少女と家族同然の付き合いをしていた香川晃は、月野木の妹を殺した元加害少年だった。この事件をきっかけに、月野木と香川は26年ぶりに再会することになるが……。
In August, 1918, Matsuura Ito lives in a coastal village of Toyama with her husband and three children. During the summer, there wasn't much fish to catch, so her husband has been far away from home to catch fish. To support herself and her children, Ito carries goods from ships like the other women in the village. Meanwhile, the residents encounter rising prices for rice. The women are unable to feed their family due to the high prices of rice. The women ask a nearby rice store to sell rice at lower prices, but it fails. The price of rice continues to rise daily. Due to an incident, Ito and the other village women step up to the plate.
A "Goze" is a blind entertainer who travels to various places singing stories while playing the shamisen (Japanese three-stringed lute). Becoming a goze due to her blindness at seven-years-old, Haru was strictly trained with a parent's affection by her once kind mother, Tome.

Based on the TV series from the same name, Mentai Piriri stars Hanamaru Hakata, the icon of Hakata, Fukuoka, alongside Yasuko Tomita, who both starred in the television show playing husband and wife respectively. With additional scenes not depicted in the original show.
Ayaka Kisaragi
When a new employee from a well-off family begins working for the first she had understood that she is walking into a fabulous working environment. This is what they call a 'white company.' Instead, she is in for a rude shock when the employer turns out to be a 'black company,' which is one with a negative environment, a rude boss, problematic co-workers, abuse and low pay. The employee's father runs a company that happens to go broke. She herself is not a model employee exactly however.

The Amamiya Brothers, Masaki (Takahiro) and Hiroto (Hiroomi Tosaka), keep looking for their older brother Takeru (Takumi Saito) who disappeared one year ago. 全国各地を渡り歩き、特命の警察署長を務める風間昭平（北大路欣也）の新たな赴任先は福島県・いわき常磐警察署。西野賢一（中山優馬）や刑事課長の貴崎寛治（岡田浩暉）は反発感を露わにする。福島県警OBの倉持大（勝野洋）が宥めるが、その後もなぜか敵意むき出しで…。そんな折、小野久志（小倉一郎）の遺体が出る。状況から自殺とされるが、西野は小野が中年男に恫喝されている動画を入手。数日前に出会った風間は小野が自殺したと思えず、小野が経営していた旅館へ。途中で遭遇した倉持と地元旅館の女将・向井邦枝（堀内敬子）から小野が旅館再建のために室屋和宏（河相我聞）の投資会社に相談をしていたことを知る。さらに敷地内で小野の血痕を発見。他殺の線が濃厚になっていく――。その直後、小野を恫喝した男の死体が…。不可解な連続殺人に風間が捜査を進めると邦枝の旅館で働き、西野と恋人関係である宮本あかり（足立梨花）の存在が…。
