豊かな自然に恵まれた海の町で暮らす高校生のルビーは、両親と兄の4人家族の中で一人だけ耳が聴こえる。陽気で優しい家族のために、ルビーは幼い頃から“通訳”となり、家業の漁業も毎日欠かさず手伝っていた。新学期、秘かに憧れるクラスメイトのマイルズと同じ合唱クラブを選択するルビー。すると、顧問の先生がルビーの歌の才能に気づき、都会の名門音楽大学の受験を強く勧める。だが、ルビーの歌声が聞こえない両親は娘の才能を信じられず、家業の方が大事だと大反対。悩んだルビーは夢よりも家族の助けを続けることを選ぶと決めるが、思いがけない方法で娘の才能に気づいた父は、意外な決意をし・・・。

14-year-old Joe is the only child of Jeanette and Jerry — a housewife and a golf pro — in a small town in 1960s Montana. Nearby, an uncontrolled forest fire rages close to the Canadian border, and when Jerry loses his job (and his sense of purpose) he decides to join the cause of fighting the fire, leaving his wife and son to fend for themselves.

A young grandmother in a small Pennsylvania town raises her daughter's child after the girl disappears. All the while, a desperate search for her continues.

A privileged photographer learns that she needs to cry genuine, cathartic tears in order to keep from going blind, a pursuit which alienates and upsets those around her including her musician boyfriend who is grappling with depression.

秘密組織MIB所属のエージェントJとKは、日々異星人の取り締まり追われていた。長年コンビとしてやってきた2人だが、Kの単独捜査をいぶかしんだJは直接そのことを彼に問いただす。だが、本人は全然聞く耳を持たず何の情報提供もしてくれない。次の日、本部でJはKを捜していたが40年以上も前に死亡していたと聞く。
