冷戦下の旧ソ連で極秘に進められていた“プロジェクト12”。それはヒトのDNAから病気の要因を取り除き、強靱で完璧な肉体を持つ兵士を生産するためのサイボーグ計画だった。事故の連続で約半世紀前に研究は放棄されたかと思われたが、ロシア内の封印された地下施設にその成果が隠されているらしいと判明する。プロジェクトを追っていた米国の軍需企業は最強の傭兵チームを雇い、要塞のようなその施設へ向かわせる。
