遺伝子操作により管理された近未来。宇宙飛行士を夢見る青年ビンセントは、劣性の遺伝子のため希望の無い生活を送っていた。そんなある日、ビンセントは闇業者の手配により、事故により身障者となった優秀な遺伝子をもつ元エリート、ジェロームに成りすます偽装の契約を結ぶ。そうして、ジェロームの遺伝子を借りてエリートとなったビンセントは、宇宙飛行施設「ガタカ」に潜り込む。が、そんな中、彼の正体に疑いを持っていた上司の殺人事件が起こりる。
