Intrepid social researcher Sunny drops into strangers' living rooms in Tbilisi, popping controversial questions. No topic is off limits. Should minority rights be protected? What are your thoughts on abortion? Have you ever felt ashamed to be Georgian? And what age did you stop believing in Santa Claus? Many young people now leave what was once known as "Sunny Georgia" to find work in countries where economic opportunities are easier to come by.

As Russian writer Boris Pasternak (1890-1960) thinks it is impossible that his novel Doctor Zhivago is published in the Soviet Union, because it supposedly shows a critical view of the October Revolution, he decides to smuggle several copies of the manuscript out of the country. It is first published in 1957 in Italia and the author receives the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1958, which has consequences.

Merab has been training since a young age at the National Georgian Ensemble with his dance partner Mary. His world is suddenly turned upside down when the charismatic and carefree Irakli arrives and becomes both his strongest rival and desire. In this conservative setting Merab finds himself having to break free and risk it all.

The plot of the film takes place in a small patio in the center of the southern cosy, sunny city. The frontman of the friendly family decides by any means to find out a possible new lover of his daughter. He is allowed to drink, be angry and know moderately. But he is ready even to fall out with his neighbor and best friend in order to make his daughter happy. But neither he, nor their neighbors, who also worry about the girl, even imagine who is the girl's loved one.

ペレストロイカの時代、ソビエト連邦から独立しようとするジョージアとアブハジアの間で領土をめぐる紛争が起こった。殆どの村人が逃げ去った後、最後の収穫のために残ったイヴォの農園でゲリラ同士の戦闘が始まり、多くの死傷者が出た。イヴォは瀕死の二人を助けて自宅で介抱しようとするが、その二人は敵同士だった。エストニア人で中立の立場にあるイヴォは「俺の家で殺しは許さない」と宣言し、憎み合う二人に手料理を振る舞う。食事を共にし少しずつお互いの事情を理解し始めた二人は、傷が癒えていくとともに和解へ向かうのだが・・・。
