23世紀。宇宙貨物船オセロット号は地球への帰途に就いていた。だが、船内を管理するAI“メリル”が暴走、エマーソン船長らクルーたちに生命の危機が迫る。やがて、オセロット号には惑星一つの生命を根絶できるほどの超兵器の最後の一つが隠されていることが分かり、メリルはそれを掌握しようとしているらしいと分かる。メリルは補給のため流刑惑星ソムヌスに着陸することを勧め、クルーたちは否応なく従うことになる。
