お祭りを2日後に控えたフランス西南部の海辺の街ロシュフォールに、作曲家の卵のソランジュ（フランソワーズ・ドルレアック）とダンサー志望の妹デルフィーヌ（カトリーヌ・ドヌーヴ）という双子姉妹が暮らしていた。お祭の当日、旅芸人のエチエンヌ（ジョージ・チャキリス）たちに頼まれ、彼女たちは歌と踊りを披露する。
