1938年、日中戦争の激化によって中国本土から香港に逃れていた女子大学生・王佳芝（ワン・チアチー）は、学友・鄺祐民（クァン・ユイミン）の勧誘で抗日運動をかかげる学生劇団に入団。翌年、佳芝も地下工作員として、暗殺の機を窺うため特務機関の易（イー）を誘惑したが、易の厳しい警戒で暗殺は未遂に終わる。3年後、再度、易暗殺の工作員として抜擢された佳芝は激しい性愛を交わすうち、すさまじい孤独の苦悩を抱える易にいつしか魅かれてゆく。

Joe Moore has a job he loves. He's a thief. His job goes sour when he gets caught on security camera tape. His fence, Bergman, reneges on the money he's owed, and his wife may be betraying him with the fence's young lieutenant. Jimmie Rainwood was minding his own business when two corrupt police officers (getting an address wrong) burst into his house, expecting to find a major drug dealer.
