1980年、マドリード。新進気鋭の映画監督エンリケ（フェレ・マルチネス）の元に、神学校の寄宿舎で共に少年時代を過ごしたイグナシオ（ガエル・ガルシア・ベルナル）が訪ねてくる。幼い頃の面影が全くないイグナシオにエンリケはとまどうが……。

マドリードに住む移植コーディネーターのマヌエラは、作家志望の息子・エステバンを女手一つで育ててきた。エステバンの誕生日、二人は『欲望という名の電車』の舞台を観に行く。そして、マヌエラが息子に今まで話さなかった父のことを話そうと決心したとき、エステバンは舞台の主演だった大女優ウマ・ロッホにサインをもらおうとして車にはねられ、そのまま亡くなってしまう。 息子の死を行方不明となっている父に伝えるため、バルセロナへ旅立ったマヌエラは、ひょんなことから息子の死の原因となったウマの付き人になる。バルセロナでマヌエラは、ウマのレズビアンの恋人で麻薬中毒の若手女優・ニナ、性転換した明るいゲイの娼婦・アグラード、エイズを抱えて妊娠した純朴なシスター・ロサ、その母親でボケの進んだ夫に手を焼く厳格な贋作画家、そして、今では「ロラ」という名の女性となりロサにエイズをうつした、息子と同名の元夫といった様々な女性たちと出会い、やがて人生への希望を取り戻していく。

An air-hostess is pregnant but she does not know the name of the father, a foreigner. When the baby is born, she gives it to her sister that has already two children. The child grows up as another member of the family. Although the adults keep the secret, the children know that he is different.

Pepa resolves to kill herself with a batch of sleeping-pill-laced gazpacho after her lover leaves her. Fortunately, she is interrupted by a deliciously chaotic series of events.

A new doctor arrives in a small Spanish village. As soon as he begins meeting people there, he notices the strange behaviour of the population and is surprised. Young people make fun of him, a man called Gonzalo seems to be some kind of leader, and he is invited to leave the village when he tries to ask about the situation. All his questions get no answer. His neighbour is a lovely and pretty young woman, who works as the local teacher. They develop a sincere friendship from the very first moment, which grows to become love. Unfortunately, Gonzalo feels that the young teacher is "reserved" exclusively for him and he reacts with violence. Meanwhile, the doctor finds out the key of that strange behaviour. Some years ago, during the local feast, some drug-addicts attacked the village in order to get money and goods. There was a fight and some people died, including Gonzalo's son. From then on, Gonzalo and others began their particular "crusade" against drug-addicts.
