When life hangs in the balance, can love conquer all? Puccini’s score is rich in musical marvels (featuring ‘Nessun dorma’), while Andrei Serban’s production draws on Chinese theatrical tradition to evoke a colourful fantasy tableau of ancient Peking. Antonio Pappano and Paul Wynne Griffiths conduct, with Anna Pirozzi in the title role and Yonghoon Lee and Russell Thomas sharing the role of Calaf.

Tenor Yonghoon Lee is the bold prince determined to win Turandot’s love, alongside soprano Ermonela Jaho as the devoted servant Liù legendary bass Ferruccio Furlanetto as the blind king Timur. Marco Armiliato conducts Puccini’s stirring score. This live cinema transmission is part of the Met’s award-winning Live in HD series, bringing opera to movie theaters across the globe.

Soprano Anna Netrebko appears in her highly anticipated Met role debut as Leonora, the tortured heroine who sacrifices her own life for the love of the Gypsy troubadour. Dmitri Hvorostovsky sings Count di Luna, Yonghoon Lee is Manrico in his Met role debut as the title character, Dolora Zajick sings her signature role of the gypsy Azucena, and Štefan Kocán is Ferrando. Marco Armiliato conducts Sir David McVicar’s Goya-inspired production.
