12月のロンドン。かつて旧ユーゴスラビアから英国に移民した若い女性ケイトは歌手志望。しかしオーディションに落ち続ける毎日で、まるで自由を持て余すかのように出会ったばかりの男性たちと一晩だけ夜をともにする。そんなケイトは街で偶然声を掛けてきた謎めいた男性トムに興味を抱くように。彼から影響を受け、ケイトは自身の生活を見つめ直し、仕事やホームレスシェルターでのボランティア活動に精を出すようになるが……。
